Welcome to Sui Generis Designs
My name is Yvonne France and I design and make children’s clothing from my home in Lancashire.
My experience as a mother of three daughters and now as a grandmother, has taught me how important it is that a child’s outfit is practical as well as elegant. These are considerations which underpin every one of my designs. Wherever possible, every dress in sizes 2 years and below has extra secure buttons out of reach for safety and large bows are detachable to make washing and ironing easier.
Samples of each design are washed thoroughly then tried and tested by the face of Sui Generis – Isla Elizabeth, who is both my granddaughter and my harshest critic.
Using natural shapes and colours, Sui Generis offers a range of girls’ clothing in high quality fabric combining comfort, style and practicality.

If your child needs the standard sizes adapted or you would like to mix and match the materials and designs, then please email me with your requests and I will adapt my patterns to create you a special bespoke outfit. To maintain the unique nature of the Sui Generis designs, I only purchase limited amounts of each fabric. Please contact me to ensure your choice of fabric is available in the size you desire prior to making an order to avoid disappointment.
This winter also introduces my new line for boys, modelled by my grandson Gabe, whose active and adventurous nature makes sure that all of my designs are put through their paces.
